The Instructor · James Burt

Bridging Artistry
and Execution.

James Burt is a professional saxophonist, music educator, and enterprise technology consultant based in San Antonio, Texas. His instruction merges the technical rigor of classical saxophone pedagogy with the analytical problem-solving of a veteran software solution architect.

Music & Education

With a degree in Music Education and years of experience as a high school and middle school band director, James has guided hundreds of student musicians through regional audition prep, solo performance, and ensemble playing.

As a saxophonist, James’s pedagogy centers on French classical school fundamentals: structured embouchure development, pitch centering, and breath dynamics. His lessons are designed to give students absolute mechanical control over their instrument.

Consulting & Strategy

Outside of music, James has spent over seventeen years as a solution consultant and architect in B2B technology—advising recurring revenue companies and platforms like Global Payments, Chargify, and Maxio.

This experience shapes his educational strategy. He views saxophone technique as a series of design challenges: identifying friction, isolating mechanical bottlenecks, and establishing feedback loops. His lessons are organized, metric-driven, and highly actionable.

A Method for Mastery

“My goal is not just to teach students how to play the saxophone, but to teach them how to teach themselves. Rehearsal time is precious. By applying clear analysis to our physical and musical habits, we build a reliable foundation that lets the music speak for itself.”

— James Burt, Instructor
